Markham, Ontario:

Comedy Magician Sam Pearce entertains 700 guests with an interactive after-dinner performance at AMD’s Holiday Party at the Hilton Hotel.

When a company like AMD (world-leading experts in computer processing technology) hosts a Christmas party, they do it on a grand scale. Nearly 100 dinner tables were set up in the ballroom of the Markham Hilton to accommodate AMD’s 700 guests; the employees and families of their Canadian headquarters.

Upon arriving at the Hilton, guests were treated to drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and interactive entertainment. When guests arrived in the foyer for cocktails, Sam was there to greet them and quickly got everyone talking by performing his Mingle Magic. Unlike the stage show where everything happens far away, with Mingle Magic, guests are able to experience the magic, up close, in their hands. Better yet, instead of using obscure props from a magic shop, Sam accomplishes his seemingly impossible feats of magic using ordinary objects (cards, elastics, and forks) that are examined by his spectators moments before the magic happens.

After cocktails, guests were welcomed into the ballroom to enjoy live music while they were served dinner; an amazing feat that the Hilton’s catering staff seamlessly accomplished. Just as dessert was served, the host took the stage and delighted guests by drawing raffle tickets, and giving away some great prizes.

Then, it was time for magic!

Magician Sam Pearce ran on stage following his introduction and jumped into his high-energy Hilarious Magic Act. He had the audience in awe as he invited the company’s top executives on stage to become part of the show. Some executives strapped Sam into a straitjacket, while others helped him balance on an improvised see-saw before juggling giant knives!

All 700 guests in the Hilton’s ballroom had a great view of the show and enjoyed crystal-clear audio throughout. Leading up to the event, Sam personally worked with the team at AMD to ensure every detail was perfect, long before guests arrived. The lights, audio, curtains and video system was provided and operated by Freeman, the Hilton’s in-house AV supplier.

With multiple suppliers and crews coming together for the event, Sam was very hands-on during the planning process to make sure everyone was on the same page. The meticulous pre-production resulted in a silky-smooth setup process, and top-quality audio during the show.
